Hi! I am Tami! Welcome to My Health Coach CHICAGO! I am a fitness professional who moonlights as a rapper on the weekends. I like to tell people that because the surprise on their face is FUN to me. I love inspiring and motivating people to be the best versions of themselves. I have always lead an active lifestyle, grew up playing sports, ate a balanced diet, and was always on the continuous search for what the next "thing" was going to be in my life.
Currently I coach here at Chicago's Neighborhood Fitness Centers. I have been the Fitness Director for over 10 years. I create the Group Fitness Schedule and Programs, manage Personal Training, and help promote and retain the gyms on a daily basis. I am most proud of the positive atmosphere and camaraderie at the gyms. I promise you will find the gyms to be supportive, inspiring, and sometimes comical in regards to your personal health and fitness journey. SUCCESS always happens with a good TEAM! That is what CNFC provides! The NEW Health Coaching sessions, programs, and workshops are a whole body approach to achieving and maintaining health. Health coaching might feel like a new concept so I want to present some ideas that will help people understand HOW it is BENEFICIAL. Most people think of fitness and food when it comes to being healthy. Yes these are 2 main components. However, as my own personal journey is unfolding I am discovering all the pieces that were missing in order to attain complete health and HOW to keep it! It's simple yet complex. It involves way more than food and fitness. SO hopefully you continue to read and this will all start to make some sense.
So here it goes....
I am choosing to share my own personal story with people as a means to help EDUCATE people and teach them how to be an ADVOCATE for themselves when it comes to personal health and happiness. My journey lead me to MANY answers and confirmed my beliefs about living disease free, getting healthy, maintaining health, body and self love, achieving a healthy weight for yourself, happiness and success, using food as medicine, and how we have control over our lives. I am excited to spread the wealth, health, and happiness. My life became one of my passions and now it is time to share.
In 2015, my sister and I were both diagnosed with breast cancer. Cancer put the brakes on my whole life and shoved me into an upward spiral to educate myself on complete health. I learned about the MANY things that have likely contributed to the growth of cancer in the body. The list is overwhelming... from foods to products to people to environments to behaviors to thoughts and emotions and stress. I lead a great life but woke up every morning with a nagging & anxious feeling that I needed to do more, be more, and achieve more. I was causing myself a stress filled life for no reason. It took me a while to understand and implement all aspects that contribute to our state of health. Food and fitness were the easiest for me personally, but the rest seemed to be pretty challenging. But I did it and now I want to share because I know it can help people lead their happiest and healthiest life.
Since September 2015 I have been researching, studying, and personally testing all these mind-body-soul aspects and approaches to enhance our health positively. I coached myself through my self-healing cancer journey. I also joined forces with my sister to really understand her own personal process through cancer. This past year I became caretaker for my mother and held her hand as she passed away from ovarian cancer. I also watched my step mother pass away from heart disease. Ironically I also experienced many more people in my life that were diagnosed with chronic disease and/or passed away from poor health. You could say life happened and now I am here. I am changed. This is not a call for sympathy but a call for all to stand up for themselves and be the best they can. I enter each day with appreciation and eager to learn and connect with people. I have been in the trenches when it comes to managing health. I am not against any type of health or fitness regimen, I am FOR ALL MODALITIES because everything can work in some capacity. Each individual is different and has different beliefs so that has an impact on what can work for you. I understand the benefits and road blocks to achieving complete health. During these past 4 years I also gained a few health coach certifications and started to formulate my own coaching style and programs that I feel will benefit and easily teach people about health. I am continuously learning the ways to complete happiness and health. My mission is to help others in the process so we can all learn and grow together to lead extraordinary lives while we are still here on earth. I have made tremendous strides and believe I can help. I have done the research and tested this on myself so my goal is to give people the tools and education that are easy to understand, easy to implement, and have fun along the way!
I believe the MORE we know, the BETTER we do! My health coaching is a means to long term health and happiness.
