Hi! I am Tami! Welcome to My Health Coach CHICAGO! I am a fitness professional who moonlights as a rapper on the weekends. I like to tell people that because the surprise on their face is FUN to me. I love inspiring and motivating people to be the best versions of themselves. I have always lead an active lifestyle, grew up playing sports, ate a balanced diet, and was always on the continuous search for what the next "thing" was going to be in my life.
Currently I coach here at Chicago's Neighborhood Fitness Centers. I have been the Fitness Director for over 10 years. I create the Group Fitness Schedule and Programs, manage Personal Training, and help promote and retain the gyms on a daily basis. I am most proud of the positive atmosphere and camaraderie at the gyms. I promise you will find the gyms to be supportive, inspiring, and sometimes comical in regards to your personal health and fitness journey. SUCCESS always happens with a good TEAM! That is what CNFC provides! The NEW Health Coaching sessions, programs, and workshops are a whole body approach to achieving and maintaining health. Health coaching might feel like a new concept so I want to present some ideas that will help people understand HOW it is BENEFICIAL. Most people think of fitness and food when it comes to being healthy. Yes these are 2 main components. However, as my own personal journey is unfolding I am discovering all the pieces that were missing in order to attain complete health and HOW to keep it! It's simple yet complex. It involves way more than food and fitness. SO hopefully you continue to read and this will all start to make some sense.
So here it goes....
I am choosing to share my own personal story with people as a means to help EDUCATE people and teach them how to be an ADVOCATE for themselves when it comes to personal health and happiness. My journey lead me to MANY answers and confirmed my beliefs about living disease free, getting healthy, maintaining health, body and self love, achieving a healthy weight for yourself, happiness and success, using food as medicine, and how we have control over our lives. I am excited to spread the wealth, health, and happiness. My life became one of my passions and now it is time to share.
In 2015, my sister and I were both diagnosed with breast cancer. Cancer put the brakes on my whole life and shoved me into an upward spiral to educate myself on complete health. I learned about the MANY things that have likely contributed to the growth of cancer in the body. The list is overwhelming... from foods to products to people to environments to behaviors to thoughts and emotions and stress. I lead a great life but woke up every morning with a nagging & anxious feeling that I needed to do more, be more, and achieve more. I was causing myself a stress filled life for no reason. It took me a while to understand and implement all aspects that contribute to our state of health. Food and fitness were the easiest for me personally, but the rest seemed to be pretty challenging. But I did it and now I want to share because I know it can help people lead their happiest and healthiest life.
Since September 2015 I have been researching, studying, and personally testing all these mind-body-soul aspects and approaches to enhance our health positively. I coached myself through my self-healing cancer journey. I also joined forces with my sister to really understand her own personal process through cancer. This past year I became caretaker for my mother and held her hand as she passed away from ovarian cancer. I also watched my step mother pass away from heart disease. Ironically I also experienced many more people in my life that were diagnosed with chronic disease and/or passed away from poor health. You could say life happened and now I am here. I am changed. This is not a call for sympathy but a call for all to stand up for themselves and be the best they can. I enter each day with appreciation and eager to learn and connect with people. I have been in the trenches when it comes to managing health. I am not against any type of health or fitness regimen, I am FOR ALL MODALITIES because everything can work in some capacity. Each individual is different and has different beliefs so that has an impact on what can work for you. I understand the benefits and road blocks to achieving complete health. During these past 4 years I also gained a few health coach certifications and started to formulate my own coaching style and programs that I feel will benefit and easily teach people about health. I am continuously learning the ways to complete happiness and health. My mission is to help others in the process so we can all learn and grow together to lead extraordinary lives while we are still here on earth. I have made tremendous strides and believe I can help. I have done the research and tested this on myself so my goal is to give people the tools and education that are easy to understand, easy to implement, and have fun along the way!
I believe the MORE we know, the BETTER we do! My health coaching is a means to long term health and happiness. The ultimate goal is to help people live free of disease, feel joyful, feel freedom, and have the confidence to achieve whatever is desired. Anything is possible. I look forward to meeting you soon! Health encompasses fitness, nutrition, stress management, love, support & relationships, the connection to our soul, letting go, letting in, ease in expressing emotions & communicating, our belief system, perceptions about ourself and life, and the environments we surround ourself. There are so many layers beyond fitness that apply to a positive state of health. I am here to lead the way.
This is a great deal and a great way to get yourself on the right track. This combo 4 session program has been eye opening and life changing for my clients to date. Unconditional love, healthy & tasty food, meditation, a feel-good wake-up AM routine to start the day, a wind-down PM routine, and a light hearted approach to the day make MY world go round these days! This is one of the awesome things I learned and have implemented in my health coaching too! HOW you start the day is likely HOW your day CAN end up! You always have the choice to REVERSE the flow during the day IF things go awry! My arsenal includes a good morning brush with my cat Van, listening to a 5-20min “meditation” on my YouTube app, glass of lemon water, saying out loud what I am appreciative for, and allowing my self enough time to shower and get ready w/o feeling rushed to get out the door.
Sometimes I do my computer work at home and have a joyful slow rise to the day that also includes a smoothie and climbing the stairs in my condo building for a short workout. Sometimes I also walk down to Whole Foods and get a Matcha late that feels warm and fuzzy on my insides. I rarely just roll out of bed and go these days. This more relaxed wake-up process has improved my outlook and mood and helped create a positive, relaxed and joyful day!
In the evening it is the same thing. Evening has been more of a challenge for me but I have tried hot showers, bath with salts and/or essential oils, cup of tea, no TV, no Phone, meditation, listening to self-help authors on YouTube, hanging out with the cat, calling a friends or family, listening to audio book or reading, and sunset walks outside. They all seem to impact a better night sleep. It’s really just about implementing and finding new habits to try out and see what feels good and sticks long term. I will also mention that no coffee and very low stress for the day help me have the best night sleep too! ZZZzzzzzz
So a beautiful day CAN be created by YOU! If you really want to feel more at peace, be less stressed, feel easy peasy throughout the day, want to enjoy what the day has to offer, and have a day that feels good and feels fulfilling! I definitely recommend these 2 types of shifts in your daily/weekly routine! Be creative and try new things and see what feels best on YOU! Give yourself time and eventually you will come up with some easy to implement AM and PM things that can kickstart and wind down your days so you feel awesome!!! Take care of yourself! Then you can shine all day and give away the love and happiness that exudes from the new you! THAT is when we are truly the best version of ourselves.
